| Contact Information: John C. Palmer, LCSW Phone: (512) 413-9219 Fax: (512) 329-0231 Email: Send Email Thank you for the opportunity to share some information about my background and services. My name is John Palmer and I am a clinical social worker in private practice. I specialize in adult, adolescent, couple, and family therapy. Professional Training and Experience: My professional story begins in 1995 when I earned my Masters of Social Work degree from The University of Texas at Austin. From there, I spent three years at Davis Psychotherapy Associates providing psychotherapy services to a diverse clientele. I also worked with the Austin Child Guidance Center from 1995 to 1999 where I received additional training and provided therapy services to children, adolescents, and their families. With extensive training, experience, and a focus on helping individuals, couples, and families in Austin, I knew the time had come to go into private practice. I opened my practice in November 1998 and have been an active member of the national and local psychotherapist communities ever since. I belong to the National Association of Social Workers and the Austin Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology. As a lifelong learner who is passionate about helping others, I value continuing education. I have recently trained to become a Level 2 Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapist (AEDP) and am currently practicing Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) for both individual and couples therapy. In addition to continually updating my knowledge through training, I also network and consult with other industry experts. For over 15 years, I have been involved with an on-going consultation and marriage and family therapy study group conducted by a prominent Austin psychologist. Areas of Experience and Expertise: While my background as a clinical social worker allows me to help a wide range of people, my practice focuses primarily on: • Individual therapy • Couples therapy • Family therapy and other relational issues • Adolescent and young adult therapy • Addiction recovery • Trauma recovery • Depression and anxiety • Mindfulness and stress relief Treatment Orientation and Therapeutic Style: I'm passionate about creating an atmosphere of trust and safety where you can openly explore your thoughts, feelings, fantasies, and behaviors without judgment. I actively engage in the therapeutic process and use a warm, empathetic, and friendly style. Using experiential therapies, I will guide you through a transformative experience. Equally important, I will equip you with the tools needed to maintain your treatment gains. Insurance and Payment Policy: I accept cash, personal checks, and most credit cards for payment, due at the time of service unless other arrangements have been made in advance. I do not accept insurance; however, I will be happy to fill out the appropriate form for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.
